Improvement by Kiya - February 2017 Scholarship Essay
To improve you have to raise to a more desirable or more excellent quality or condition. You have to work hard and practice the skill at hand.
There have been many instances where I have learned a lesson and made beneficial additions or changes. When I was learning the laws of the road, I was finally the age to take the Alabama road test to receive my licenses. For my first time taking the test; I made many mistakes. The area that I struggled with the most is the reverse portion of the test. I also had a difficult time with coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. With the reverse portion I had a hard time with looking behind my shoulder while reversing. The instructor granted me another chance to correct my mistake that but there was no improvement. The same happened with coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I was devastated after failing my driver's test. With my emotions high, I channeled them into practicing hard and improving for the next test the following week. The second time I took my test I saw a very big improvement. I upgraded my quality and improved my skills to succeed. The second time around, I took the instructors criticism. I looked behind my shoulder to have a better view for any blind spots. I made sure that I came to a complete stop to every stop sign. With improving my driving skills, I was able to finally obtain my Alabama Graduated Driver License!
