Thanks for the encouragement by Kevin - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

As I was navigating through middle school, I was never the most studious student. After all, I figured that everything had come pretty easy so far so the rest will fall into place. My parents both being in the computer industry recommended that I take a computer class being offered at my middle school. I was a bit reluctant but decided to join and it changed my life. While taking that class, I felt invigorated. It opened my eyes to so many possibilities. I realized that I could have so many opportunities available to me in the future if I continued to follow in that path.
As I moved on to High School, I decide to follow the business academy path being offered there. It gave me the chance to see different aspects of business as well as the computer industry. I took classes such as digital design, cyber and networking, and AP computers to name a few. I have a massive attraction to the Cyber Security field as well as the Mobile App field. My parents have been a large influence on me in this aspect. They’ve shared their experiences with me and I was also able to shadow my dad at his work. Seeing the day to day work of various IT employees at his work gave me a whole new prospective and I can’t wait to go to college to learn more. I cannot thank my parents enough for their encouragement and continued support. I have applied to four colleges seeking a degree in Computer Science. I have been accepted at two so far and I am awaiting to hear from the other two. I can’t wait to see where my future takes me !
