I think I can... by kelsie - May 2014 Scholarship Essay

We all know about the little train that could and the only reason he could is because he believed he could. It may sound completely cheesy but we are that train. We have to believe in ourselves before we ever CAN accomplish our goals.

That was the best educationally and even life advice I ever recieved. My spanish teacher is the one who said it but of course in spanish. I was very nervous about our huge upcoming final and she told me that if I believed in myself then I could do anything. Believing in yourself and believing that you will accomplish your goals is also a push to make you give a hundred percent towards your work.

Believing also gives out positive reinforcement for yourself. It has been said by cancer patients that they were positive about their recovery and they even made the cancer cells disappear. If thinking positively can help a cancer patient recover what can positive thinking do for your self-eestem on a math test.
Now going into every classroom and every test I believe in myself and never second guess that I am capable of accomplishing the grade I desire. This has not only helped my grades but it has helped my outlook, I no longer compare my grades to others because I know that I gave a hundred percent and that is the best that I could give.

I think I can, I think I can...and you will.
