Tuesdays with my Morrie

The book titled Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Album has been a large inspiration in my life. I first read this book in my freshman year of high school as it was part of our curriculum and it easily became one of my favorites. This book became a favorite of mine due to the story it brings to life, it feels as if it’s such a real situation when you are reading it. During my high school career my mother was diagnosed with cancer and I could feel myself inside Mitch’s character because he had faced the same troubles with his uncle dying from cancer. I would always use my readings as a place to hide away from any troubles and worries I faced and this book was one I would often find myself reading it over and over again.
Now that I am older I had to learn another unfortunate lesson that was faced at the end of the book. My father has just recently passed away, and it was so sudden that no one expected it. My father was my mentor in life, he could be called my “Morrie”. From a young age my father instilled my moral compass through his actions and words. We would spend days driving around the backroads in our hometown and he would try to tell me all about different life lessons I was facing at the time.
My father would always explain to me the life lessons I would face as I got older and I can still hear his voice now saying you may not know what I mean yet but one day you will understand it. Now that I am a mother with a child of my own I can truly see the meaning of the lessons my father would tell me about. As in the book now that he is gone I can truly see the meaning of life that he tried to show me when I was rebelling and narrow minded. I hope to teach the meanings and lessons of life to my son and I believe that passing on this book will be able to help me do that.
