Driven by dreams by Karolin - April 2024 Scholarship Essay
Greetings,
I am Karolin Pascual, a rising freshman ready to embark on an exciting academic journey to pursue my passion for the world of business. I am applying for this scholarship to fuel my dream and strive forward in pursuing my majors in marketing and business administration at multiple prestigious institutions including George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and North Carolina A&T State University, among others.
My academic aspirations arise from a potent source of motivation—a content creator and entrepreneur, Talitha Jane. Talitha epitomises the successful woman I desire to become, one who is not only able to do what she loves—fashion, traveling, being an influencer— but also chooses a career that allows her to promote and represent other brands. Following Talitha’s path, I too, dream of using my passion for fashion and marketing to bring creative ideas to life and represent brands in the global market.
A Hispanic woman in a highly competitive field, I understand that I need to constantly push the boundaries, not only to challenge the status quo but to create and leverage opportunities. My commitment to the field of business stems from the desire to establish a strong presence of women of color in leadership roles.
Maintaining focus on such lofty goals is not without its challenges. However, I have developed a strategy to maintain my motivation and focus. Firstly, I hold Talitha as a beacon, a real-life reminder of the success that can be achieved with determination and innovation. Watching her strive and grow in her field, despite the challenges, provides me with the drive to continue working towards my own goals.
Part of this strategy also involves staying committed to achieving my academic objectives. With a high school GPA of 3.5, I am determined to continue working hard to keep abreast of the theoretical knowledge my courses will provide. Experience has taught me that a structured schedule, coupled with allocated time for relaxation, helps maintain focus on tasks and prevents both burnout and procrastination.
Moreover, I believe in community. As much as I stay motivated by my own determination, I also feel energized by working with others, contributing to collective creative processes, and partaking in activities that build stronger relationships within my environment. It is this community-focused mindset that I believe will enrich my experiences at university and beyond.
In conclusion, I am motivated to pursue my academic goals with the aim of creating a successful career for myself in the business world. True inspiration comes from Talitha Jane, who has mastered the art of balancing her passion and business acumen. This scholarship is an instrumental stepping stone in helping me achieve these goals and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Thank you for considering my application.
Karolin Pascual.
