Any Accomplishment is Success by Karina - February 2021 Scholarship Essay

Success for me in college is simple, I just want to leave with more valuable experiences than the ones I came with. In those experiences I know for a fact will be many failures, but I think setting that as my idea of success instead of something else, is my own way of taking advantage of college. Success can come in many different ways, I believe I am already successful by being accepted into college. I am already successful because I plan to graduate high school this May.

Success to me is the small accomplishments that push you a bit closer to achieving any goal.

I value experiences and hope to share my own to provide a muted perspective on the immigration crisis. The best way I can give back to my community is to bring our experiences into a career in law. If ignorance can be challenged through education, I want to dedicate my career to learning about the justice system and sharing legal knowledge. Therefore, my ultimate goal is to teach others systemic flaws within the legal system and begin a chain effect of reeducation.

Any experience leading up to that are small successes that should be celebrated and learned from. Because my goal will take time, if I don’t consider my small accomplishments as a success, I am afraid I will never be celebrating myself.

I always urge my classmates to give themselves more credit, to celebrate themselves now because accomplishing anything, especially with the state of the world right now, is a success.
