Trust me. by Kara - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
So, you're going to be a freshman? I remember that time. Four years ago. Seems forever, doesn't it? Crazy, your choices right now will affect you four years from where you're at right now. Here's my advice, and you really want to listen. Do your homework. All of it. Let me tell you, you won't want to.
"What's the point?" You may ask yourself, frustrated. The point is, when you're in my position, applying for colleges, and scholarships, you are going to be mad at yourself when you are just barely under the scholarship GPA requirement. Looking back, it's hard to see places where I very easily could have made up points, but didn't. That group project could be the difference between getting a scholarship or not.
That test you don't want to study for? Do it. The GPA you are building right now will follow you, and you are going to want to make it a good one. Once your GPA takes a nose dive to the bottom of the ocean, it's going to take a whole lot more than one little submarine to drag it back up. We're talking straight A's, always, for the rest of forever. I know that's the goal anyway, but that's hard, and we want a little wiggle room.
So, have fun, hang out with your friends, join a club or a sport, do whatever makes you happy, but most important, do your homework. It's worth it. Have fun, you have four years here, might as well make the best of it, because it is great. I believe in you, but don't forget my words. Do. Your. Homework.
