Evolving Over Time by kara - June 2017 Scholarship Essay

When I was younger, I used to dream of becoming a teacher. I absolutely adored teaching and helping others. As time went on, my interests changed and I decided that I needed a more challenging career. After high school, I went to college where I got my Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) Degree and majored in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I loved self teaching just as much as I enjoyed teaching others, thus why I majored in Entrepreneurship. I always was, and still am, reading and educating myself in addition to the school programs that I was enrolled in. After graduating university, I found a full-time job working for PepsiCo. I worked at PepsiCo for two years, all while reading and educating myself on other interests. While working at PepsiCo, I was finding that I wasn't feeling challenged enough and I was missing that "teaching" factor that I had once dreamed of. Moreover, this job did not allow me to be as innovative and helpful as I hoped it would be.
After two years at PepsiCo, I decided to leave and pursue a different career path, Chiropractic. I am so enthused to be a part of this amazing profession as it will allow me to live out all my dreams and goals. Currently, I am tutoring on campus which satisfies the teaching aspect of my job that I have always been seeking. Once I graduate and enter the workforce as a professional, I will continuously be teaching by educating my patients daily. In addition, I hope to one day put on seminars of my own and teach other professionals. Furthermore, Chiropractic has been the best decision I have ever made as it allows me to live out my childhood dream job which was teaching and I am entering a career where I will always be challenged which will also require continuous education.
