Unknowns of 2020 by Kadence - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

2020 has been a crazy year full of unknowns for the future. As a senior, I have had to adjust from going to school everyday on a normal schedule, to switching back and forth between a Hybrid schedule and going fully online. Each day can hold a new surprise that could greatly affect the rest of my senior year.
During the 2020 school year, I have learned to take advantage of the days that I am in school and I get to ask my teachers questions before returning home for who knows how long. But there have also been times where I had felt lost and confused during online learning. I found that trying to take notes over a blurry computer screen is very difficult and trying to find motivation to get out of bed and do homework is pretty tricky too.

The New Year is right around the corner which means the resolutions are coming into place. For 2021, I hope that I can try and find a balance between school life and a senior life. So many times this year, I was caught up in grades, homework, tests, and everything else that school brings, while forgetting that my senior year is supposed to be the best year of my high school career. This virus has taken up so much of my senior year and I don’t want to miss out on the rest by being so caught up in school work. While I know school work is just as important as having free time, there could be a balance between the two instead of having to choose one over the other.

2020 has been a strange year for everyone and has affected many people. But 2021 is in close sight and will hopefully be a clean slate. I want 2021 to be a year of balancing acts for school life and a social life. Balancing and finding enough time to do all things in life is a very important skill to have, so why not start those skills in high school?
