Success is Gained From Failure by Justin - October 2019 Scholarship Essay
Fear of failure has kept has kept many of us from success. I have learned from my parents failure simply means there is something to be learned and another direction needs to be taken. Success is great but failure is good. You must not let success go to your head and must not let failure consume your heart. Things do not often goes as planned, but that does not mean give up. We can unlock our great potential when we use failure as tool.
History has taught us of great men and women who suffered great failures and did not call it quits. President Abraham Lincoln and author J.K. Rowlings are examples of two influential people who I admire that did not let their failures in life make them "throw in the towel". Abraham Lincoln suffered failures in his personal, business and political life. Lincoln did not give up and became our 16th President. He led our nation through the American Civil War. Author J.K Rowlings suffered failures in her personal and work life.
She completed her manuscript for the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Failure let both of these influential people to succeed. They both maintained the determination to succeed in the arena of life where they truly belonged. Whether you fail as a student, parent, spouse, business owner, writer or athlete, remember that failure does not define who you are. Failure is now a solid foundation to build your future success upon. I thank my parents for teaching me to embrace my success and my failures.
