Young Man Dreams by Jovany - June 2020 Scholarship Essay

"Sticks," "Slim boy," and "Skinny," were just a few names I was called by my peers growing up. Even more insulting, whenever sprints were involved in sports, my teammates would say, "Don't catch on fire Sticks." However, I became furious and put this to an end because I was tired of the dreadful comments. I decided to make a permanent change by adding twenty pounds of muscles. The following school year, I was not called "Sticks" once. From a slim boy to a much muscular man, I unearthed a passion for fitness. Yet, I did not think college was necessary, even though my mom said that I have to further my education. Personal training does not require a college degree; one only needs a six to twelve-month training certificate. Although, one day, I came over a YouTube video. The title stated, "Personal Trainer Makes 200k Annually". My eyes widened with excitement that I could be making that kind of money with a vocation that I much loved. This trainer goes by the name of Jimmy Shiba. While living off of ten-cent burritos and handing out training flyers, Jimmy managed to use personal training to get him out of a poverty life. I reached out to Shiba and asked various questions. Fortunately, he took time out of his day to answer them. One of my questions was, "Would a Kinesiology Degree help with training?" Jimmy responded with, "Yes, it definitely would." From that moment on, I dedicated myself to further academics to change people's lives through fitness.

Trainers can simply dedicate themselves to short-term certificate programs, but how can one be a different animal that can change the world with fitness with such little teaching? College helps young, ambitious students, like me, to use further academics as a sponge that soaks up as much wisdom to outsmart and stand unparalleled against any other trainers so that I can have an enormous impact on people's lives. As obesity rates are higher than ever, many people are struggling to follow a fitness routine. They need help and I have prestigious ambitions to become one of the best personal trainers so all can rely on me to get the job done—even others who seek to have a healthier, muscular, or toner lifestyle. College education will advise me on the requisite knowledge for the body mechanics and anatomy, especially in relation to human movement, to fully understand how to train the human body.

Receiving a degree is the first stepping hurdle to become the optimal trainer. Once I graduate college, I will seek my dreams using that wisdom to innovate my ideas for fitness. Personal trainers today are not diverse and are limited. We have a variety of trainers that solely stick to one dominant subject. They could be master of weight loss, aesthetic looking, muscle building, calisthenics, tone enhancers, strength-building, speed building, and all sorts of aspects. However, how many trainers today are knowledgeable in most or all categories? There are not many. Higher education will create a foundation where I can pursue all types with a confident and safe manner. My ambitions are to become a diverse personal trainer, but I have to become innovative to change lives. That is why I will pursue every subject of fitness to be a reliable life-changing trainer. Learning all of these will only give me more opportunities to leave a more significant impact. I want to make an influence in this world that extends beyond my lifespan and to be remembered for the number of lives I have managed to change and inspire through fitness.

As all of us realize, every career has a different way of impacting the world. Just how big brand names clothe athletes with supreme clothing, the presidents leading their nations, even local stores that provide families with daily necessities. I will impact our world by motivating fitness in everyone's lives. This will all began with my community. I realize that my community does not promote wellness well. The gyms here are a bit too high priced for low-income families and the town has only hosted one marathon in the past with no other events coming. This is why I want to set an eager change to build a recreational park with various free gym equipment, including pull-up bars, dip bars, machines, and many more. Anyone in the community can come in their own time and exercise to become a healthier person. However, this prodigy does not stop in my town. I want to pursue this plan everywhere in my state and hopefully beyond to other states and maybe other countries to give less fortunate people that always wanted equipment to work out. Despite this, there is more I will provide. I hope to become a personal trainer who influences young adolescence to become successful trainers. I will do this by creating a business to inspire young trainers to follow through their fitness aspirations. I will give my wisdom to all desperate trainers who are ready to seek to help change people's lives through fitness. I will be offering one on one and group coaching and a program to ignite the fire for success. I might be young and naïve, but everyone has been at some point. If the world did not have young people chasing their dreams, we would not have the luxuries that we live with today.
