College is important because it gives you the chance to practice living independently without being completely immersed in the real world. College is usually the first time most of us live away from our parents. As a result, we get a glimpse of what our lives will be like once we graduate. While living on campus you get the chance to learn how to properly manage your time because you have nobody watching you to make those decisions for you. You get to choose whether you go to that party or spend the night l for that big test. You also learn how to control your funds. Most of the time you also have to deal with your own finances for the first time. Dealing with loan payments, laundry, food, and other expenses can be hard, but it’s important to learn before living on your own.
In addition, college provides most with the education they need before entering their desired workforce. With jobs becoming more competitive, more companies are looking for higher degrees to even consider you for the job. In addition to having a college degree, jobs also look for people with experience in their field. College can help you do that. Creating relationships with professors can open up opportunities to work for them on research or lead you to other internship opportunities.
College is a place that can help you mature in life. It’s the first time you get the chance to really be in control of your own life. So take the chance! Go out make new friends, try new things, and figure out what you want to do you with the rest of your life.
