What a College Education can Provide by Jordan - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

A college education will allow me to create a network of valuable resources and give me a sense of trust and security. I will get the support from the student body as we help each other reach your professional goals. The college I choose will host events throughout the year that allow me to connect with my peers. I hope to enhance my network by finding a mentor to help me with my professional needs and hopefully one day be in a position to become a mentor to someone else. Giving back can be the greatest reward and benefit.

Another important way an education will help me to be successful in my college career is through its many career resources, such as job listings online, tips on effective resumes or cover letters, job searching strategies and negotiating techniques. Another benefit is being able to list my many extracurricular activities on my resume to show that I am dedicated to staying connected in my school and future profession. A college education will also provide a source for scholarship information and awards for students achieving excellence in their college careers.

I also hope that my school will help me improve my problem solving skills so that l can get everything done and keep life in balance. Leadership experiences will allow me to expand my multitasking abilities that future job and life responsibilities will definitely demand. Education will allow exposure to new more challenging tasks that will hopefully awaken some undiscovered talents that may prove useful in the future.

Finally, employers recognize the responsibilities that student leaders take on and they respect the initiative it shows to be an active member of the many organizations that universities have to offer. With leadership experience on my resume, I am more likely to get the attention of hiring companies or even be able to start one of my own.
