Surviving School by John - July 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I had to give one Ted Talk I would talk about how to manage stress in college and the world around you. We all know that college and real world stress can really hamper ones ability to deal with everyday life. My talk would be about ways to manage your stress and the importance of letting go of things that you can control which is something that we all struggle with including myself.
My belief for this talk is if we all had better avenues to explore to deal with our stress we would all be better function members of society. Us as college students would seem more functional on so many different levels. I have been a part time college student for about 4 years I am making the leap into Full Time College, I have learned so much about managing myself because I have worked nearly my entire time in college.
I would talk about the importance of having fun in college that its not all about class time or doing homework. Making connection in college and making new friends can really help you grow personally and mentally in your studies. I would talk about sometimes you just need to compress on days that you have time even if that’s going out doing your favorite thing like walking your dog or going to a park you have to get your mind off school for a set amount of time. These are things that are so important to making it through college. This is what I would talk about college is staple of our society but making it through and being okay at the end is very important.
