Procrastination Does Not Pay by Jennifer - May 2015 Scholarship Essay

One lesson I have learned from my peers is that procrastination does not pay. Watching people scramble to figure out what they are going to do last minute can be slightly amusing but I do not want it to be me. From personal experience, procrastination can lead to stress, bad grades, and unhappy parents.

Procrastination is the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off with delay, especially something requiring immediate attention. It is simple to procrastinate nowadays with various distractions such as technology. Although I have procrastinated before, my peers have helped me see what the negative effects are. Seeing others panic has shown me that I do not want to be that type of person. I have learned that by getting projects and assignments done in a timely manner can make life easier throughout high school. Grades will not constantly be a burden, allowing me more time with friends and a chance to enjoy high school. Procrastination is a bad habit that is good to break as soon as possible. My peers have aided me in the realization that procrastination can result in failure.

If you want to be a success, procrastination will not get you there. Dedication and perseverance are excellent qualities to have and will help when it comes time to get a job as employers want people who are hard-working and on time. I have had the opportunity to learn from people’s mistakes, build on them, and try to help others.
