Educational Advice by James - May 2014 Scholarship Essay
The greatest piece of educational advice that I have gotten is to make list's of priorities and follow through with them. The list must consist of the top ten, or so, things that need to be completed for each day with the most important things on the top of the list. It is done this way so that if I don't get to the bottom things, I won't be as worried about not completing all of the things on the list.
The top few things on my list always consist of work, schooling, and family. I wake up every day and get myself to work. At work, I log into my classroom to check to see if there is anything I can do right then. After work, I am able to sit in my space where I can be comfortable and get my work done in an area that better suits me for doing schoolwork. Lastly, I spend time with my family. Ideally, I have my school work done before dinner and that gives me adequate time to help my son with his homework and spend time with him, my partner, and her child.
This process helps me every day because without setting daily expectations and goals, I will spin out of control. I would spend my days doing things that I would rather do instead of things that I need to do. Because of this, I currently have a 99.17 in my first class and I can't wait to see where that brings me in the rest of my classes.
