Reluctantance turns into success by Jamall - February 2017 Scholarship Essay
Success stories one after the other same principle but different experiences and affections. Time to time we hear how failure can lead to success from the biggest and most prosperous business leaders from Steve Jobs to Bill Gates. Although many of us continue to make the same mistakes over and over again without taking the time to reflect on yourself and ask why do I consistently make the same mistakes time after time again?
As growing up moving from grade level to grade level the difficulty of my classes continues to increase. Sometimes In class, I would be frightened to answer questions because I would be worried about what the other students would think of me. Would they tease me or bully me? for being a nerd or an idiot for getting the problem incorrect. My solution was to try to figure out problems on my own but that didn't work according to plan. Eventually, test day came without a strong background knowledge of the content it's pretty obvious what the outcome will be I failed test after test my grades was suffering heavily and decreasing rapidly. My teachers were considerably concerned with why am I scoring so low on test however they know I am a student who should be passing all test and quizzes with no problems due to my academic achievements.
This was a common case in middle or high school academic achieving students following other students who are considered the cool kids which also means flunking their classes to seem like a cool bad boy or girl to improve social school status in popularity. My teachers followed school protocol they contacted my parents and asked if I was having problems at home but they told the teachers no. At the time I thought I was doing what all teenagers do which was flunk school and hang out with the cool kids, however , soon enough from the smartest kid in the class the student who nobody talks to or called a nerd a nobody is a person who changed my life and influenced me to become my own self. His name was Danny he is very intelligent he encouraged me to focus on school and showed me articles I told I wanted to study information technology he said if I don't get myself together then no college will accept me but the most important thing he told me was your freshmen year in high school is the year colleges look at the most so if you don't start off strong with your GPA then catching up will be very difficult and the stress itself will destroy you in time.
Danny and I have been friends ever since I learned a lot of effect strategies from him and my Avid program to make sure my school work is organized never falling behind in completing homework also his so-called perfect planning technique which ensures you will never forget an assignment or a specific test day in your lifetime. Learning is a part of human's everyday life but the humans who listen and use these wise advice and put them to use is the real winner.
