My Perfect Experience by Jalon - August 2020 Scholarship Essay

College is a one in a lifetime experience for people, and it's a huge milestone. For some people, it's their first taste of freedom from their parents. For others, they are finally able to enjoy college parties and other events that intrigue them, all while getting an education that will benefit them in the future. No matter what alumni of various colleges say, there is no such thing as a perfect university or perfect program. Every single university has flaws that differ from the next university. This is true in all aspects of college such as sports, education, college experience, leadership opportunities, and so on and so forth. Over my high school career, I have envisioned what my perfect college experience would be and I'm glad to share it. In this essay, I will be focusing on what I think the three most important factors of college are: program variety and resources, student activities, and social atmosphere. There are many more important topics such as dorm life, sports, and cafeteria food, but I think that the factors I've chosen separate a good experience from a great one.

The absolute most important factor of a college is program variety and resources. It's important that a college has many programs students can choose from. Along with those programs it's also important that they have the resources necessary for students to get an exceptional education. My dream college would have an array of majors, thereby attracting students with varying interests. From visual arts to computer information systems, my college of choice will have a major for every prospective. Upon graduating from college, I would like for every student to have access to job opportunities which have come about as a result of specific relationships created while attending school. I believe that college should provide us with opportunities that will benefit us beyond college, and the school I choose should have a history of doing just that.

Another important aspect of college is the activities students participate in. When students are not in class, it's important that they have something productive and engaging to take part in. My dream college would have an easily accessible club board list. These clubs would be generated by students and would connect students with activities they didn't know they were interested in. While most colleges don’t mandate club participation, I feel that in order to take full advantage of campus life, one should be able to find themselves through some type of extracurricular activity. I am excited about learning about all of the different clubs and activities that are student led. I may even start a club of my own.

The final important factor that I would like in my college is a positive social atmosphere. I want myself and my peers to feel comfortable expressing ourselves however we see fit. Everyone at my dream school would be allowed to live, work and play in an environment that feels like home, maybe even better than home! It is truly important that students have support from fellow students, those that they feel understand them and their point of view, whether it be political or religious.Having a positive social climate that is supported by the school is key to making this a reality.

In conclusion, there are many conditions that I want in my ideal college. A nice sports team, good food, beautiful dorms, and many more, but the most important factors are those that directly impact the quality of education you can get at the university. I want to go to a college that is very goal oriented. A college that focuses on the success of each and every student and sets them up for success. I believe that there are many great colleges and universities that have these 3 factors and I am excited to see which college I will attend in the future.
