How I've Positively Impacted my High School by Jack - November 2019 Scholarship Essay

I have been fortunate enough to be heavily involved in my highschool’s volunteer clubs. One of the clubs I am apart of is Key Club! It is a student-run organization, where our main goal is to encourage leadership through serving others. For my junior and senior year, I have been lucky enough to be my high school’s, Club President. I have been able to lead other teenagers on volunteer projects and get more students involved with volunteering as my Club’s president.
As a senior this year, I’ve tried to focus on having freshmen come and volunteer and after three months, the majority of our club is made up of students from the freshmen class. I have been that terrified freshman and I wish I had found a place or club to be apart of when I was an anxious freshman. I know how terrifying being a new student at any high school can be, so I’ve made it my mission to have my highschool’s key club, be the most welcoming place in my school.
I believe I have positively impacted my high school and it’s student body by being a supportive human being and giving other people my age a space to be themselves and work together towards projects that are bigger than themselves. I’ve been fortunate enough to even have some of the freshmen say they look up to me, which is absolutely bananas if you ask me!
