Education Anatomy by Isabella - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Knowledge is power. Schools were built to teach students reading, writing and arithmetic, unfortunately, throughout the years, it’s been lost. Learning is a great privilege and should never be taken for granted.

I used to go to a public high school for three years. I realized that I was unhappy and wasn’t learning as I thought I should, and education wasn’t the real focus. After much thought I decided to transfer. I transferred to a great school where education was the main focus. I was able to enroll in classes that would help me be successful in college and reach my full potential.

Education is vital to my major and future job career. In the fall of 2015 I’m enrolling at Liberty University in Virginia to study biomedical sciences. My hope is to become a physician assistant specialist. I would like to specialize in cardiothoracic or neurological surgery. I would like to spend time volunteering with Doctors Without Borders and help people in third world countries and people who cannot afford medical care themselves. This type of career requires a high level of education.

Education isn’t just used for the big leagues- It’s used for everyday life. Whether it’s the medical field, teaching, retail or cooking, our education is always useful. Education is the basis of understanding. We must understand life and everything about it to survive. Without it we would be lost.

As schools change vastly, I hope we never lose sight that education is the foundation of the school and without a foundation, everything collapses.
