Focus on learning, not just grades by Isabella - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

As a student, it can be very easy to focus on getting good grades, but at times I feel as if we are more worried about getting A's and B's instead of making sure we actually understand a topic. My education New Year's resolution is to make sure I focus more on the learning material rather than the grade.

With classes mostly being online now due to covid, it can be easy to resort to your notes, or asking a friend for help because you are learning a lot on your own. Instead of not understanding something and resorting for help right away, I am going to take more time to study and make sure I understand the topic before moving on. Now obviously when I say I am going to focus on learning than the grade, I do not mean the letter grade does not matter, I mean that I want to actually earn those grades from studying and preparing instead of cheating my way to those grades.

The way that I am going to complete my New Year's resolution is keeping myself organized. I am going to make schedules and plan out blocks of time that I am going to dedicate specifically for class time and studying. I want this New Year to help me with time management, and how to cope with virtual/online courses because is difficult to maintain motivation during this pandemic.
