Lead the Future by Hua - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

Throughout our lives, there has been that person in your group, on the stage, or at your house who has taken command. Leading you to victory, these people possessed great leadership qualities. Just looking deeper into their lives, we find that most leaders are very successful.

From an early age, teachers and parents have told you to take an active role to solve a problem. From leading a group to sing to solving a math problem, it all involves leadership. A more active person in life will greatly enhance their opportunities to succeed. How this relates to college is that college is our turning point in our lives. It separates the boys from the men. If we learn and apply our leadership skills in college, it will just exponentially increase our enjoyment of life in the future. We must assiduously lead ourselves to greater capacity.

Just like I said before, applying leadership in college will help your future. Making ourselves work harder, going beyond and above on studying, and diligently apply for jobs are just some of the types of leadership qualities we should have in college. These long four year-or more- are not just boring years of school, but another benefit to help improve or shape our leadership skills. Leadership in college is beneficial and greatly essential for a greater future ahead.

Looking into the future, people with leadership in college and people without leadership in college are two totally different things. Yes, one many have no leadership and the other one does, but this is not my point. One wants to not just succeed, but help their present AND their future. They do more, improve more, and voila! a leader is born. Not only do they pass college, but by doing so with skills of leadership they ensure that everyone around them will know that "Hey! This person will likely to succeed in life". Anyone being told that will feel greatly respected and others will look up to you as a leader. Work hard, go farther than you even can, and help the people around you. Applying that quality, that virtue to ourselves, we will help us and others around.

College is a great place for people to go and succeed. Not only do people there succeed, leaders there will do more than succeed and go further in life. Leadership may not be a necessary thing in college, but just having the quality of it will enormously help benefit our lives. Leaders in college will not just have a better life, but better opportunities, an active role, and just an overall sense of belonging. Leaders are the people we want to be, in school, in college, and everywhere.
