Are Leadership Skills Necessary for College Success? by Holly - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

Leadership, is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. I believe that in many cases leadership skills are important. From high school teams and clubs, to jobs you work at. I do believe that college is another place like high school where you learn more about becoming a leader and what it means to be one.

I believe that leadership skills are necessary for your success in college. College is a big place compared to the high school you just came from. If you do not stick up for yourself, or put yourself out there, you’re going to be a lonely person and won’t meet new people. I believe that leadership is needed in everyday life to succeed. College is just another step along the way to success. You may lose friends, but you can make new ones. Leadership means standing for what you believe in, no matter what the others might think.

I believe that if you want to excel in academic and in athletics in college you need to be a leader and stand out. Leaders push themselves and put themselves out there to been seen. They typically are the ones with the more awards and recognition. College is a place to see where you want to go for the rest of your life, push yourself, and exceed your limits to become a leader and you will go far. I believe that leadership skills are needed to succeed in college, or else you will be left behind and won’t go far after college.
