If I had the opportunity to create a high school extracurricular activity, I would create a resume and career building class. The reason for this is because, in today's society, the majority of high school students don't really know how to craft and well written and career-oriented resume. Most of them also don't know what to be when they grow up while others may have an idea of what they want to be; with a small percentage of them knowing exactly what they want to be when they grow up. Apart from building correct and career-oriented resumes, this class will encourage students to research careers and career areas that match stuff that they would actually enjoy. In my opinion, students will greatly benefit from this class because they will be preparing for the unfair world that's outside their high school doors. In recent years, companies have become more and more picky when it comes to hiring employees, with a big part of this being how good the employee's resume looks; and this class will increase their chances of crafting a well-thought-out resume for the specific career or career area that they want to pursue. In conclusion, adding a resume and careers building class to high schools will be a great addition to the current high school curriculum because it will improve their chances of getting a good job and enjoy a happy life.
