Purpose of education by Hayley - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

If someone were to tell me that education has no purpose, I would ask them to tell me how they are speaking, how they write, and how they do every day math. Each of those skills were gained through education. We would live in a world of nothing without it. We would never learn to communicate with one another and create the things that have been created. For example, Albert Einstein learned a lot through education, now we are learning what he discovered. Education made all of the technology that we use in our lives, the houses we live in, and the buildings that we go to every day, also powered by the technology. Education is what helps us to grow into the person we are today and the person we wish to become.

There is also purpose in college education, it helps us strive to become who we really want to be. Without it, the chances of getting your dream job are very slim. Even if you wish to become a truck driver, education is necessary to be able to function the trucks and know the ways of the road. Everything in this world takes education. We wouldn't even have food without it. No one would know what plants would be safe to eat, how to grow and harvest, what animals can be turned into food and what parts. It all relates back to each other. There is no way that we could live in a functioning society without education. There would be no speech, writing, or ways of communication. Education makes up our lives.
