It would be very helpful for students to hear a speech about the factors of success. The most important factors of success are hard work and perseverance. Students must be able to understand this. Essentially, it is the most important lesson they will ever be taught, because without these qualities it is likely that nothing will ever be accomplished. Without these qualities, a person is not likely to get anywhere.
Today, people spend much time on their phones - the Internet and social media mean everything to them. They seem to believe that if they just wait, and perform the bare minimum amount of work that they have to, success will eventually come to them. What they don’t seem to realize is that success is built on accomplishments, and nothing is accomplished through checking social media accounts and maintaining popularity statuses. To accomplish something requires labor, both physical and mental. It requires perseverance and passion. Success rarely comes to people who are not trying their hardest to find it.
The misconception some people use as an excuse for not working hard, that intelligence equals success, must be eliminated. Intelligence does not under any circumstances equal success. While those that are intelligent may not have to work as hard as others to be successful, work is still required. Intelligence by itself means nothing. What is important is having the skill to put intelligence to good use, and everyone has some amount of knowledge they can use to their advantage.
Students need to hear a speech about these things. If they understand the importance of hard work, they can be successful almost anywhere they go in life. Thomas Edison himself said, “The three great essentials to achieve anything worth while are: Hard Work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense”. If people want their lives to be worth while, they must do their best to be successful, because something can only as important as the work that has been put into it.
