Why should I get an education? by Haley - April 2015 Scholarship Essay
Is having an education a privilege or a right? I feel everyone should be allowed and given an education. Education I feel is beneficial for ones growth as a person. It provides a base line knowledge on different areas of topics ranging from English to Math to physical education studies. The skills you learn in school will only set you up for success in the real world. With a variety of classes to choose from it will spark an interest within something in you; that you truly enjoy and hopefully will want to do for the rest of your life.
It is important to have an education because it will help for a career later on. I am an exercise science major and without an education I would not know how to safely train people. Also I am becoming a master in my field with the classes I am taking. For example, now I know the anatomy of the body and how to really pin point muscles that need to be targeted and how to prevent injuries.
Having an education makes you smarter and gives you vast amounts of knowledge. Not only though is education solely based on core curriculum material but also can be fun with other classes. Having arts and music in schools gives kids the freedom to express themselves. I am a big supporter for education because it has given me the ability to find a range of subjects and activities I really enjoy.
Not only do you learn new things with education but you get to make so many accomplishments. When it comes to a hard class or just an exam coming up, it can be stressful. However once it is over and all the hard work pays off there is no better feeling than stepping back and realizing, hey, I did it. It gives a self-esteem boost only you can give yourself.
I feel there are many purposes of an education whether it’s gaining more knowledge, finding new interest or simply just the accomplishment of being able to do something you thought was impossible. With that, I feel education is very necessary for everyone to have.
