How Teachers Can Help Students Learn More Efficiently by Haley - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

There are many ways that teachers “teach”. There is no right or wrong way to teach something, that it is entirely preference of the student/teacher. There are many things to take into consideration when you are going to teach something to a group of students; Or even in a one on one teaching setting. Things to take in to consideration are the age of the student, ability to learn, student preference, etc.

There is a lot of research that shows that hands on teaching is the most effective. The reason for this is that it really engages the students in what you’re trying to portray. This type of teaching allows the people to actually see what is going on and helps them remember it.

If I give a teacher one piece of advice to help me learn it would definitely be to create more hands on activities and explain things to the fullest. I am a really hands on person so I think that this type of learning is the best for sure. When teachers explain things to the fullest that really helps me when I am taking notes and trying to get the items stuck in my head so that I will remember them for a later time. Hands on learning gives the students a “deeper understanding” of what is going on and helps the brain hook the information to an activity/picture
