Giving Thanks to a Memorable Education by Gustavo - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

Going to college offers me the chance to look at subjects from a different perspective. I am thankful for the connections my education gives me. This helps me learn about other meaningful topics which not only relate to school, but also other core aspects of life also deepen my understanding in exploring my interests. School teaches me lessons which help me out in life, such as networking with people and being responsible in the work I do. The way everything is taught helps me connect one thing to another. Overall, school helps me become a well rounded individual, having a wider understanding of various topics through my education.

My education does not only help me maintain a good academic status, but also stay engaged with the opportunities it opens up for me. Although I am currently without a job, I believe the way everything is structured at my university makes it possible for me to have a job which I am passionate about. There is a whole field of support out there, from the teachers which connect us to opportunities to employment events hosted at the university. A few days ago, I joined a virtual career fair and felt that I could connect with employers and have a chance of working at their companies. Along with this, my education gives me the support I need when I am struggling to make connections. For example, there are resume doctors which strengthen our resumes to ensure we are confident in securing the jobs we desire. Interestingly enough, the companies I found in the career fair stood out to me since they were mainly innovative companies, such as a local solar energy company and a software development company. I believe I am capable of securing these jobs with the help of my teachers and support throughout my school.

Being in college does not only help me connect with employers through Handshake, but also keep in touch with events hosted at the university. I believe the concepts in the classroom help me learn about forming leadership characteristics outside of the classroom. I am confident in applying the concepts I learn beyond the classroom through the jobs and hobbies which interest me. As I keep on learning, I will create inventions through my knowledge of engineering to assist those in my community. I believe the way the university connects me with its events motivates me to keep on working hard at school. My education motivates me since I can foster my knowledge in an environment which allows for creativity and curiosity. Each day in class is an opportunity to build upon concepts. In the engineering field, I can look at solutions for problems in our surroundings. I am grateful for the lessons my teachers have given me. Their dedication for my education motivates me to work hard in each of my classes. Also, I work hard to not disappoint my teachers, since their lessons prepare me for a future where I can help others prosper.

In this world, we need to be able to understand how to make connections in order to be successful. So far, I am certain I am on the right path since my time in college has taught me to stay connected with my teachers and always ask questions. With these connections I make from college, I also want to teach others what I know. My teachers have given me the resources to be successful and enjoy my time in college. Sure, my teachers do not assign video games for homework, but my assignments are filled with meaningful lessons which give me a deeper understanding of my world. Once I graduate, I will see myself lead a team of engineers to design the future of our homes. I will not wait until that day to thank my teachers, because each day I go to school, I am thankful for my teachers and the support they give me at school. If I had not gone to college, I would find it difficult to connect with others and discover thought provoking disciplines.
