College by Graham - April 2020 Scholarship Essay

I personally do not think that attending college is crucially important to success. Don't be confused, I think that there are countless advantages to attending a university and furthering your education. However, I think that ambition, creativity, and social skills are the most important things to be successful in life. Take an example like Steve Jobs. Co-creator of Apple, he has transformed the way that we live today, but he never graduated from college. Henry Ford and John Rockefeller, two of the most successful American businessmen in history, also never graduated college. In the world we live in today, the quality of your ideas are far more important than if you have a diploma.

While I am choosing to attend college to further my education, I don’t think it’s for everyone. I think it is super important for some people to pursue their business ventures as soon as possible, and put their own entrepreneurial instincts to use. A certificate is not all that one should value in their life, despite the advantages it can have for you. Success is not measured by accolades, but rather the intensity with which you pursue your dreams. A college degree isn’t necessary to attain that.
