Don't Worry, Be Happy by Gracie - April 2021 Scholarship Essay

All my life I have worried about what was going to happen next, instead of living in the now. As I approach graduation, I look back and wander where all my time has gone. I never made any lasting memories, all I was worried about was sports, what outfit I should wear next, my boyfriend, and college. I look back and regret never going out with friends, or skipping the extra hour getting ready.
Hello Gracie, this is you 5 years in the future. You got accepted into college so don't sit around losing sleep stressing about that. Your senior basketball season just came to an end, and now what? All you ever worried about was sports and now they're over. Practice more outside of your season, it'll pay off in the long run. Don't practice too much though, make time to hangout with your friends. I have only select few friends left because I pushed them all away to practice. Get that job, you're gonna get promoted to manager quick, so don't slack off! Just don't work 40 hours a week like I did, you really missed out on a year of your life. Don't be scared of covid! it's been this long and you haven't got it yet.
If could go back in 5 years and give myself advice, it would mostly be don't stress, everything works out in the end. I'd also like to tell myself to cut some slack and go make memories, not money or more basketball. My senior year is coming to an end, and everyone around me has trips and all kinds of stuff planned with their friends and I always chose everything over them, so now I'm left out. Go have fun kid, it goes by quick!
