Believe In Your Self No Matter What Others May Say by Gilbert - March 2017 Scholarship Essay
In today’s society children are more concerned with their appearance and what others think of them than worrying about their education. An important topic that I will like to give a speech about will have to be about the importance of not overseeing what others think you can’t do. I go to a school where many people from the community think that our school is the worst, where every student is a criminal and if you go there then you will drop out the first semester of attending. What I say to those people is that they are wrong. Just look at me I’m a student that does not get influenced by his peers yet others may not have the same luck of me that doesn’t mean they should be part of the stereotypes said about my school.
Indeed, I will give a speech to my fellow classmates about the importance of telling others that they are wrong and that you can do it if you believe and never give up. One should not give others the pleasure of seeing you fail and I want my classmates to see that anything is possible if you have hope. Not everything in life is easy and indeed most of the time life brings you circumstances that are too much to handle. In my school, not many students give it their fullest whether is in an extracurricular activity or just a class and I believe that’s not fair. My classmates are given the mindset that they can’t do it just because they go to my school and that is idiotic. I will talk to my school audience about the importance of believing in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then no one else will.
Furthermore, I will like them to know that there will be people in your way of achieving greatness and that you should not let them bring you down no matter what. I want my classmates to understand that school is important and you only have so many chances of achieving greatness before is too late. This brings me back to the important topic that I want my school to be informed about. I detest people that just because they achieve their dreams can bring others down just because of the way they live. There are many people in my school that enjoy making fun of others flaws whether is there appearance or their intellectual abilities which is wrong. Based on this I want to extend on the fact that just because one sees you in your weakest you should not give up. Given up just because someone thinks you can’t do it is outrageous, they don't know anything about you or how you think.
Although, there may be times where people will get the best of you that does not mean you can’t rise up and show them who the boss is. Not just because someone tells you that it’s impossible to be an astronaut, doctor, police officer or even a teacher you should throw everything away in the trash. I want my classmates to remember that not even the richest and more famous people out there had it easy and indeed had to fight for what they believed on. Overall I want to be able to give my school peers hope and that other people's hate can actually be good in achieving your goals in life. While one can’t change how people are in today’s generation we can learn from them. As Taylor Swift said, “the haters gonna hate, hate, hate “and in fact, she is correct while people may hate on you, you should just “shake if off” and prove them wrong. Indeed, in the end, I want to show my peers that no matter what if you believe and have hope on what you want to achieve, you can go anywhere in the world no matter where you come from.
