AAN EPISTLE TO LEONARDO DA VINCI. by GIDEON - October 2021 Scholarship Essay
In our world as Homo sapiens, we’ve had mentors, who in our perspective are apotheosis! These individuals could be westernized sophisticates or ancient philosophers. But as a Ghanaian biology student, the orthodoxy of scholastic variety and versatility has been my field of interest! Being an activist of ambidexterity, I always zoom into the ace of academia without forgetting to catch a glimpse of my greatest mentor, Leonardo Da Vinci!
Being born at the northern part of ancient Italy, his writings and ideas on cardiology, ethics and methodological inquiries on engineering are at the very root of human thoughts. Most philosophers who followed, echoed and opposed his ideas owed a direct debt to his wide ranging influence. But his virtuoso attribute and indefatigable bravery have always caused me to stare.
Yes, he was regarded as a common painter, yet he still remains the first to ever produce the sketch of a human organ. Indeed, he was a sculptor, but he propaedeutically, jumped on his fundamental intelligence and became a mogul in engineering! His wide ranging perspicacity is unfathomable, isn’t?
But marked by practical hardheaded intelligence, I proudly take up the good spirited drive of this astute scientist, who has practically re-echoed the sensitivity of positive energy and preeminence. The decision to always study his works and imitate his attitudes serves to me an inevitable caveat that rings a call for a promising future. It is my utmost optimism to be a doctor, pilot and a journalist, in one of the greatest media in the world, and with the spirit, guidance, love and passion of Leonardo Da Vinci, I can accomplish and shake the world in a gentle way!
With the mentality of Leonardo da Vinci, I direct a piece of artillery to all and sundry. It is never too late to effect a change in your jurisdiction and beyond. Relaxing at the corridors of your potentiality is like the value below zero, ‘infinitesimal.’ Leonardo Da Vinci never said he was a painter, when the need to offer a help in the hospital arose. With the spirit of Leonardo, we can do more in our fields and other areas that are far departed from ours.
This is an epitaph and a tribute to Leonardo, and I will remain a total chauvinist his positivity and versatility. His basic effort neutralizes my acidic thoughts everyday”.
Categorically, I got the inspiration from almost all the facet of his life. Trickling down from his birth, Leonardo was born and bred on an apparently destitute background, his mother was regarded as “a low class” individual and at the genesis of his life, he knew nothing but poverty! But at the course of his life and endeavors, he redefined the status quo. This is very peculiar to me. Being born from a poor background, it is my utmost optimism to make my future promising, therefore regardless of my course as a science student, I participate in all kinds of competitions, to help actualize my dreams, I always step on the tentacles of Leonardo, to advice all less privileged individual’s to buckle down and cross the right rubicon regardless the ‘area’ of issue.
His perspicacity, is a force to reckon. Trickling down from his biography to his signature, all I could see was resilience. He touched on the zenith of all facets of academia, and used his God gifting talent in art to become an indispensable mogul in artistry! He never relaxed in his area of endeavor, but rather zoomed into the unthinkable! He used art to favor science. His drawings of the scythed chariot, the aerial screw and the human brain, became the bone of contention for aeons. Practically, I strongly think the best way to defy all odds is to use my linear God gifting ability to effect a complex change in my world. Mediocrity was a fantasy Leonardo never celebrated, and I have always made sure not to down on my capabilities!
His life time achievement, a parable worth listening! Leonardo Da Vinci looked at the world of no art and upholstered it with a cloth of fancies. He presented science with design and produced countless sketches of anatomies and ecclesiastical beliefs! His versatility was a keen sword that stabbed all pedagogies. The portrait of Mona Lisa, has for long time been regarded as the alpha portrait because of the critical manifestation of Leonardo’s works. This touching anecdote, though sounds like a satire, goes a long way to strengthen my quest for the unthinkable.
The end of mixed feelings. One thing that has grown my unquenchable adoration for Leonardo is the story before his death. The tale of the famous king of France, who carried Leonardo, supported him at his old age and held him in his arm as he died, this is quite paradoxical. The two different stories of a person who was born on the lap of a low class individual, but died on the lap of the highest class of individual in France. This is an ironic miracle, isn’t it?
I’ve gotten to imbibe more in my little world, from my greatest mentor. His tirelessness, and versatility, has always pushed me to complete my mission as human. My greatest inspiration is to complete not compete with others. And the difference between these two words is the letter “l” which according to me stands for Leonardo! An epitome I will forever look up to!
