Leadership Allows for a Unique Individual

Leadership is necessary in college success because being a leader allows a person to learn about themselves. Being a leader allows you to understand your likes and dislikes, what you are willing to stand for and what you are willing to take a back seat on. For example, many students have a fear of speaking publicly. Until one steps up and takes the stand, that person won't know if they are cut out for something such as public speaking. Fear allows us to not be leaders. We are affraid. If we open ourselves up to leadership, it opens ourselves up to criticism. Sometimes this criticism is outwardly based, but when a leader opens up about their ideas, the criticism is based on a more personal level and can be hard when it is taken to heart. But what the people need to remember is that everyone has different opinions. There is nothig to be affraid of. So what if someone opposed a well thought out idea. We put ourselves out there and that is a beautiful thing.

And also, an idea has the potential to make great changes. When we let fear decide whether or not we become leaders, we don't find out if we are good at certain things or if we even like them. We let ourselves become pawns that can be continuously moved and we don't allow other directions to be challenged and taken. When we become leaders, we express ourselves. We tell people how we feel. We say that it is okay to be who we are and that our personalities and ideas are worth following.

Leadership is important in college success because when we become leaders, we show that we have the potential to change the world. College success is just an added bonus to finding out who we are as people. But leadership is not only necessary in college success, it is necessary in finding out who we are and what we are going to do about it.
