Educational Purpose by Garrett - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

A higher education permits an individual to explore all learning possibilities to discover their passion in life. Once one finds what they wish to focus on, they can pursue the necessary knowledge needed to succeed in that field. Through various courses and projects one learns real world experience, making them a valuable employee. Higher education allows you to develop skills for problem solving while discovering the value of collaboration. With a strong education, you can secure a higher position to serve the community as a positive and active citizen.

A higher education means a multitude of things to various people, but to me, it means that I can save lives. I plan to study Robotic Engineering in the hope that one day, I will be developing robotics for the military and law enforcement. Robotics gives these groups the ability to have indirect contact with hazards in the field, such as hostiles and explosive ordinance. This indirect contact will limit casualties, bringing more of our men and women back home to their families. The human life is what matters most to me, as it can never be replaced or regained.

Education is a life-long journey. You do not need to be a student just graduating high school. Learning is continuous. With an every changing economy and market demand, one may need to reenter the workforce with a new skill set. One should never be satisfied and feel they have enough education. Every day we live, we learn.
