Dominate by Gabrielle - November 2019 Scholarship Essay
Entering my senior year of high school at Williams Field HS in Gilbert Arizona, I was nominated Student Body President. In years prior to this I served as FreshmEn Class President, Sophomore Class Vice President, and Head of Dances. One of my main priorities as Student Body President, aside from planning and executing amazing events that made every students' high school experience more special, was being someone that everyone felt supported and comfortable around. High School is a very pivotal time in a person's life and I wanted to make sure that the students at Williams Field High School felt comfortable enough to come to me with anything they needed, whether that was advice or a simple favor. High School can be very stressful, overwhelming, challenging, and demanding-- but I recognize that it can also be exciting, fun, memorable, and have an immense positive influence on someone's life. Being able to recognize the potential the 4 years high school has regarding impacting someone's character caused me to think about the major role I had in creating this positive impact. I needed to be a source of motivation for the students who nominated me, I needed to direct events that would make ever-lasting memories for the students of WFHS, I needed to lend a hand to the different communities within my high school, I needed to help everyone make the most out of their high school experience. I strived to always greet people with a warm, welcoming smile. I would start my day with a good deed that would get passed on through out the student body as the day continued (a simple compliment goes a long way). I directed the cheers/chants at our sporting events to promote school spirit and involvement. I did my best to be someone students felt embraced by and appreciated by. I wanted to create a positive and uplifting atmosphere at my high school that would give everyone a sense of belonging-- and I did just that.
