Strive for Success and Conquer by Fredrickia - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

Remembering back three years ago as a freshman, I could say that I wish that I put effort in everything that I did. This is the beginning of your academic career that determines your future, literally. Grades, extracurricular activities, and your mindset all matters. If you set high goals your freshman year and succeed you will have little to no stress down the line, but if you slack off and do not take school seriously your freshman year , your whole high school career and achieving graduation will be filled with challenging obstacles and demands. I know this because although I fixed it, I had to work three times as hard to reach my goals. Staying motivated and determined is the main goal for freshman year.

When you enter your first year of high school on the first day sit in the front of the classroom, unless told otherwise, so that automatically have an advantage to have success in the academic or elective class. You can get better acquainted with your teacher, but it also shows how committed you are to learning. First impressions count, and a better relationship with a teacher can help you in the long run. Grades are important as well, especially if you want to attend a four year university. Work hard to pass all of your classes, with this being said take advanced classes no matter how hard they may seem. This brings up your GPA, and it allows you to receive a deeper understanding of a subject. High school is different from junior high, so the work may be given at a faster pace, stay motivated and work hard to maintain above average grades. Attend tutoring whether you need it or not, and build up great study habits.

Being involved can introduce you to different people, and build up your interests. Join activities and organizations that you might like, and stick to them. Finding things you love or hate to do your first year of high school will eliminate unnecessary complications for the rest of your three years. Do not join everything, the most you should probably have is three. You do not want to stress yourself out with too many workloads and commitments. As a freshman you want to enjoy high school life and balance school work as well. Colleges and Universities love students that are involved, if this is the route you choose. If college is not for you still get involved so you can start building a resume.

Of course there is a main goal you should strive for your freshman year, staying determined and motivated. Keeping a positive mindset will definitely help you attain success. In order to remain focused on tackling and completing freshman year you must wake up every day and say I will push myself beyond my limit ,and strive to pass and accomplish my first year of high school. Optimism and positiveness will enable the motivation and determination to exist in your life.

Freshman year is not as hard as it seems unless you make it difficult. The first year of your high school career can make or break you so my advice is, stay on top of your grades, get involved, and stay motivated and determined to achieve greatness your first year.
