Successes come from failures by fey - February 2017 Scholarship Essay
My name is Fey Medina and I am a high school senior. When I was a freshmen I decided to take chemistry because I did not want to take it my junior year and I thought it would be easy. I really liked that class in the beginning but than it started getting really difficult and the teacher would not help me when I clearly needed it.
I slowly started to get a worse grade every grading period. Because of this I would go to after school tutoring on the specific subject, chemistry. Every time I would go for help nobody knew how to do any of it so I clearly was not going to have my grade go up. At this point I decided to give up because I did not understand anything in the class. First semester I barely passed with a D+.
Second semester I got a C, but still I was not happy with my grades staying like that on my transcript. I did not want colleges to see the D.
This was clearly something I failed at so I wanted to improve. My junior year in high school I retook chemistry to get a better passing grade. This year I had a great teacher who was able to help me when I needed help and to tutor me when I needed something explained. I was really glad I did this because I no longer have a D+, and C on my transcript for colleges to view.
Retaking chemistry my junior year really did help me because I got a better grade and got to understand the subject more. I was able to learn from my failures and succeed I my class and for that I am grateful.
