How do I hope to bring change to your intended career field? by Favour - June 2020 Scholarship Essay
At an early age, riding in a car with my dad, I wondered what causes cars to move. I asked my dad how it worked. He explained that cars have mechanical, electrical and electronics parts that work together to make the car move. That aroused my interest in engineering. Seeing aeroplanes take off and land, and drones fly, controlled remotely by electrical or electronics impulses sent from a controller, that caught my interest. I was on several rides in an amusement park, which were based on mechanical and electronics hardware, It fascinated me how one could apply the principles of science and engineering to develop economical solutions to aid humans.
The world is advancing in technology, and electronics is the backbone of this advancement. It is my motivation to know the principles behind a variety of these technologies, such as computers, robots, cell phones, radars, navigation systems, wiring and lighting in buildings and other kinds of electrical systems. I am intrigued by some of the robotics utilized in the manufacturing, farming, medical industries etc, which are products of Electrical Engineering.
Our climate requires some innovative ideas in the area of green energy development. Studying Electrical Engineering as my major will enable me to develop the needed skills required to make me part of a solution for a better climate. I would like to develop skills in renewable energy technologies such as the Green Energy Electrical Power Converters, wind mills, solar energies, hydroelectrics, geothermal technologies, etc.
