Always listen to your mother....! by farrah - October 2013 Scholarship Essay

If I do nothing else in life, I will always listen to my mother. She is the one person in my life that I know will always be there for me. My mother always give me the pros and cons to any situation. She has been open and honest about anything that I have asked of her. She is my biggest cheerleader in life, that is if I am doing good things. She is my worst nightmare when I do not do such good things. But never the less, she is there for me with all of her wisdom, knowledge and great advice.

I can remember back when I first started driving, my mother would always tell me to avoid narrow one-way streets. The very first day my mom allowed me to take the car to school...what do you think I did? I took a narrow street leading to my school and was trapped between a garbage truck and a line of parked cars. The garbage truck refused to back up so I could pass so I attempted to back up and side-swiped a parked car. Thank God there was minimal damage done to the parked car as well as to my mom's car. The call to my mom was one of the hardest calls I ever made. When I called her, I was so upset she was convinced that I had totaled the car. But she told me not to worry and we would deal with the car after my test. Did I mention I was taking final exams. After the test I drove the car to my mom's job. When she saw the tiny scratch on the door she began to laugh. She hugged me and said....Always listen to your mother.

So if I ever thought I wanted to second guess something my mother said, I always think back to that day. I will always listen to my mother because she knows best.
