My Dream Classroom by Ethan - July 2020 Scholarship Essay
For my whole life, I have always been taught in the same type of classroom. Bland walls with dull lighting and the squeaky desks that everyone knows are very uncomfortable to sit in. Not to mention, you never know what the temperature will be in there until you finally get settled in. The halls are congested will all sorts of weird noises, and the teachers never bother to close the door to try and muffle it (unless we were taking a test of course). This is a very standard classroom setting, but if I could have a say in what that would look like, it would be very different than what it is right now.
My favorite place in the whole world is a beach, but I wouldn't recommend a classroom on the beach. That would be nice, but there are way too many distractions, and education needs to come first. The ideal classroom for me would be very modern. Walking into a room with hardwood floors and LED light bars above. Instead of one of those projectors, which are impossible to read from, there would be a flatscreen TV. The room would always be set at 68 degrees (this is my dream room, I can have it cold if I want) and would have great insulation. The paint would be eggshell white, and there would be a slight hint of lavender blowing through the AC unit. If there was a classroom perfect enough to make you excited to go to school, this would definitely be that perfect classroom to me.
Education is far more important than most people think it is. The future relies on us to better our planet, and the start to making something better is to teach ourselves about what is wrong so we can fix it. No matter what you aspire to do when you're older, being educated will never hurt you. But, in order to get the most out of education, you need a sound environment to be taught. The classroom I just described is without a doubt the classroom you would want to be taught in.
