Humor, Love, and Tragedy by Eric - June 2014 Scholarship Essay

Many people like to tell stories, and many of those people like to write those stories. If I were to write a book, it would be compilations of stories about funny life lessons, love, and tragedy.

The first part of the book would be about funny life lessons. Funny life lessons are stories generally come from our parents, grandparents, or mentors. These lessons are humorous but more importantly, if we are open to listening to the underlying meaning we can keep from making silly or detrimental mistakes ourselves. The wisdom from these stories is one the greatest virtues a person can have because it means that you have not only learned from your experiences, but, can live by them.

The second part of the book would be about love. Love is a very complicated emotion, and it comes in many shapes and sizes. Reading stories about love can be inspiring, can give us hope, can bring us closer to the ones we love. It can make us happy, and it can heal us.

The last part would be about tragedy. Life doesn’t come and go without tragedy, and it’s always comforting to know that someone has gone through what we may be going through and made it out okay. Support in hard times no matter how small can make all of the difference in the world to someone. Stories of tragedies can help us understand, they can give us an outside perspective, they give us the capacity of sympathy and empathy. They teach us to keep our chin up and to look forward so we can move on.

These are the types of stories that I would put in a book if I were to write one. There are plenty of things that people like to write about, and many of these writings will told in many ways.
