Timeless Tidbit of Absolute Awesomeness by Enoch - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

If you want to make the most out of high school here is my advice - make a master plan. Don't let high school just happen - use it to make your life awesome. A master plan is a good idea because everybody changes whether they try or not--especially in high school. So the real question is - what kind of change do you want for yourself?

To do this, you should ask and answer questions that help you define your priorities. Questions that help you determine what is important to you. Here are some questions to consider:

What kind of person do you want to be? What kind of student, friend, and family member do you want to be? Do you want to hold any positions, join any clubs, or play any sports? What skills are important to you? What subjects will you attack like a ninja? Which subjects will attack you like a ninja and might require some extra attention? Are you willing to work hard for an education? What are you willing to sacrifice to accomplish these goals? Perhaps most importantly, where do you want high school to take you? All the questions you answer should help you decide what things matter most to you and how you will use high school to get closer to them.

If this feels like a research project already that’s because it is one – but this one is about you. Ask your own questions and make a plan that you and your closest loved ones can understand and appreciate. Grab your Mom, Dad, older brother or sister, Grandma, Grandpa, or whoever you trust most and decide with them what you will do and become in high school.

Above all, making a master plan will give you strength when times are tough. Friends don’t always act like friends. Teachers don’t always act like teachers. And sometimes even family might not know how to help. But remembering your plan will help you get back up, try again, and reach for those things that matter to you. When you make a master plan you are taking responsibility for your life and how it turns out—so make it awesome.
