Leadership is a skill that is necessary to succeed at college. However, having said this I do not think that people need to follow in my ways or strive to be or act in a similar fashion. I think skills that go along with leadership are also qualities; such as focused, determined, and goal oriented. I do think that being self-motivating and striving to achieve top grades is absolutely necessary and required for success at the collegiate level. College is higher level learning and requires a great deal of time and perseverance to be successful.

Focus and determination are skills that go hand-in-hand with leadership. To be focused means to have a plan of attack and a vision for how to get from start to finish. Leadership can be personal and falls under this area of knowing what needs to get done and determining how to accomplish the tasks given in various classes. These skills are definitely necessary for college success.

Self-motivation and striving for great grades also fall under leadership skills. College is a time when there is no one over your shoulder reminding you of assignments and when things are due. Therefore, devising a plan and motivating yourself is critical to success and if you do it correctly top grades will be attainable.

Finally, perseverance and the ability to see the goal; a degree, and lead oneself is a skill that if it does not come naturally must be acquired quickly when you reach the collegiate level of academics. Management of time is a huge leadership skill that can be taught and learned and with practice can become second nature. Any way you look at it is a must for success.

So in conclusion leadership is a skill that encompasses many elements and when all are looked at as a whole it is conclusive that these are necessary for success at college. Choosing to devise a plan and carry it out in a systematic, orderly way to accomplish what is required to succeed in college is imperative.
