The Importance of Education by Emily - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

To be without education is to be without efficient thought. In no way can an individual accomplish their full potential until they break their prohibitory accessory of ignorance. Education enables each person to think complexly, allowing him or her to form efficient ideas and views. Education also creates opportunity as it permits am individual to be considered for certain jobs. Education qualifies people for work and enables individuals an ability to form complex thought

Education creates an overwhelming amount of opportunity. Without education people will not be considered for a multitude of careers. By deciding to be uneducated one is ultimately deeming themselves to be unsuitable for a majority of jobs that are more than entry-level positions. Education is this great qualifier because it prepares individuals to do the specific job or position they wish to achieve. For example a doctor could never be a doctor without an extensive amount of education, ignorance is not tolerable in such a position because mistakes are inevitable and disastrous without proper schooling and training. Education allows one to understand the position they are in by providing the individual with the ability to think complexly.

Education empowers one the ability to think complexly. Without education one has never been granted the knowledge necessary to think in an involved and intricate way. Education does this by providing people with explanation, a wider vocabulary, and the ability to form proficient problem solving skills. Explanation of how things work, and the history of the environment one is in allows an individual to form ideas and views of their own. Once someone has gained an understanding of how and why things work they are then able to articulate their own views of how things around them currently exist. A wider vocabulary also allows people to think more complexly because they then have the ability to do so; if one only knows simple words they can only form simple thought. Finally education provides people with efficient problem solving skills due to the lessons it provides. By having to solve problems one accumulates the skills to more efficiently do so in real life situations.

Education is the all-encompassing facilitator in providing individuals the ability and opportunity to reach self-actualization.
