Confidence. Decision making. Good judgment. Flexibility. Listening. Multi-tasking. Resourceful thinking. Self-motivation. Team work. Vision. These are just a few examples of leadership skills. These skills are important to use in everyday life to be successful, but they are vital to the success of a college student. Leadership skills are necessary to use throughout college while in class, extracurricular activities, and dorm life.

It is crucial to use leadership skills in the classroom. A student needs to be able to multi-task to be successful in their classes. They are required to listen to the professor while taking notes and understanding what they just wrote down. Students also have to think critically. A lot of times professors give work that is not all laid out. The student has to think critically so that he or she can perform the task at hand. One of the most important leadership skills that will be used in classes is team work. Almost every class has a group project that will involve at least 3 people if not more. Working as a team is an imperative skill to master because a student will have to work in a team throughout their college career and beyond. Leadership skills are vital in the classroom.

Leadership skills are important to use in extracurricular activities on campus. Extracurricular activities can includes sports, clubs, volunteer work, and more. No matter the activity time management is crucial to the success of the student. The student has to manage their time wisely between the activity and also school work to ensure that everything that needs to be done is done. Confidence in what you do is another skill that needs to be used. It helps the student assert themselves into an activity and put their best foot forward. It is important to use these leadership skills and others to be successful in their extracurricular activities.

Dorm life success would not be possible without the use of leadership skills. Living in a dorm means living alone or with roommates, but most of the time it also means living without parents or an adult figure. A leadership skill that is crucial to the success of dorm living is good judgment. Using good judgment will help tremendously when faced with questionable or new behavior. At college it is no surprise that there are parties however with good judgment the student can stay out of trouble or even help someone who is in trouble. Living in a dorm also requires a lot of resourceful thinking. Whether it be how to fix something, or even how to bake brownies in a microwave. Resourceful thinking is an important skill to have. Leadership skills are crucial for the success of living in dorms.

Dorm life, extracurricular activities, and classes all require the use of leadership skills to be successful. These skills are vital to the success of any college student, but it will also be a benefit to the students after college while in the work place.
