AVID stands for advancement via individual determination but, when you put AVID students together we are far from being alone. Most of us are the first kids in our family to attempt to adventure past high school and into college. Through these past four years I have learned that it is important to have healthy relationships with those who abdicated for the same goal as you do. In AVID is where I get most of these relationships, it is the class that I have always had a teacher who I can count on and has my back always.
AVID has had the impact to change me for the better, and has taught me that it is okay to be selfish at times that matter. I use to strive for perfection, even though I was never even close to it, AVID gave me the chance to rebuild myself in High School because even though I was not perfect I was still meant to be there. AVID enduceed my work endurance that I always knew I had on the soccer field and helped me learn to apply it on school work instead.
The first two years of highschool I kept up with my school work and went out with friends almost everyday I would try not to be home. But things change and as going through highschool and learning to mature I have learned that my future is worth more than making a silly mistake in the present that could change my whole course of life. AVID has taught me that family may be your only strength at times, but you have to reverse use that strength to motivate your individual determination to increase.
