Leadership has been described as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task". For example, some understand a leader simply as somebody whom people follow, or as somebody who guides or directs others, while others define leadership as "organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal". I think being able to do both of these things are necessary for college success.

Being a leader to some people can greatly impact you as much as it does them. Characteristics of a leader can only grow and become better, and benefit you for your future. Having these characteristics can lead you to great opportunities rather than excluding yourself from everything. Opportunities requiring someone to come forward and be a leader happen on a day-to-day basis. College is a place where you will have many chances to do this. For example, becoming a member of the student counsel. Not everybody can do this, and if you think you have the ability to do it, you should.

All in all, leadership qualities are necessary for college success. Most people may not have the ability to be outgoing and lead when it is needed, only a few who are capable are bound to become successful.
