As I see it, your level and quality of education sets you up for the rest of your life. It determines what kind of job or career you will receive and what kind of pay you will be getting. Considering everyone works for a majority of their life, it’s important to get a good job, one that you can live with for the rest of your life and provide you with sufficient pay to get you the necessities of everyday expenses. Which is the purpose of an education; to help get your foot into the door and obtain that desired job or career you’re searching for, one you’d be happy to do for the rest of your life.

High school and college is a time of exploration. The wide variety of courses and opportunities allows students to do some soul searching and figure out what courses and subjects they may really be interested in. Once they have an idea of that, it can lead them to find out what they might want to spend their lives doing and help them choose a career path. Once this is figured out, learning all there is on that particular subject is the most important aspect of getting an education. By attending college, students become equipped with the knowledge and skills associated with their career of choice, enabling them to meet the qualifications and be prepared for a job in their field.

Which is why an individual’s level of schooling and experience is written on a resume. It allows the boss or interviewer to see that and draw some assumptions on their knowledge and experience of the job, knowing whether they would be a good fit. The purpose of education is to learn the required material for a specific career course and allow others to see that so as to get a good job. Therefore, the purpose of education is to define an individual’s knowledge of a specific topic and set the foundation for which to earn jobs and careers.
