In the platform of high school, there is a rather large range of extracurricular activities roaming from sports such as; Football, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, swim, basketball, baseball, etc, etc. As well as other activities like; Choir, art, band, culinary, etc, etc. But among these activities that high school students can join, there is one activity that seems to be missing. An activity that can be essential to a student's growth through their high school career.
The activity is a sport called Lacrosse. It is a very hands-on sport that seems to be dying out from high schools. Very few students have even heard of it, even less know how to play. Although this sport is already existing and in some areas are well known, I believe that it can be essential to a student's growth.
For Lacrosse isn't just a sport to join and hope to play well in. It is a hard, hands-on sport that demands commitment, discipline, honesty, and passion. Just like any other sport that high school students may be interested in playing.
Lacrosse is a hard sport that can be violent, like football or hockey. But many people - both male and female, and of any race - can learn to play Lacrosse, they can grow with their team and be a part of something that is bigger than themselves. Not just to win but to connect to other students. Lacrosse has just a strong of a purpose as any other extracurricular activities and sports.
A sport like Lacrosse also opens the opportunity of leadership, growth, teamwork, and how to work well with others, even if you don't like a certain person.
Overall, if any type of extracurricular activity could be added to the student high school platform is Lacrosse. For the need of opportunities, it can create. Lacrosse may be just another sport, but a sport and activity and can affect students in different ways. Ways that are needed in the form of growth and leadership.
